Reality Effect
- For the literary concept by Roland Barthes, see Effect of Reality.
Reality Effect is the second album by The Tourists, released in 1979. This album received much more favorable reviews than its predecessor with catchier songs and a stronger reliance on the vocals of Annie Lennox. The album included two hit singles, "So Good to Be Back Home Again" and their first top ten hit, a cover of the 1964 Dusty Springfield number "I Only Want to Be With You". Although the band featured Ms Lennox and her future Eurythmics partner Dave Stewart on guitar the bulk of the songs were written by singer/guitarist and undisputed leader Peet Coombes. The album spent sixteen weeks on the U.K. album chart but just failed to break into the top twenty.
